| Greek Life at Southeast |
|
Greek life first began in Southeast Missouri State University in 1891, originating with only a single fraternity—the first sorority did not emerge until 1951. Today Greek life on the SEMO campus consists of seven sororities and eleven fraternities recognized by the National Panhellenic Council (NPC), the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and the National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) respectively. With this growth spurt has come a credible history, providing countless opportunities for all Greek students today to reach out and connect with their community. These experiences, along with the unique characters belonging to each chapter, open doors to so many different social and academic networks and truly provides students with the opportunity of a lifetime.

| National Panhellenic Conference |
The National Panhellenic Conference was organized in 1902 in recognition of a need to maintain high standards of sorority life and good relations among sororities. Originally, Panhellenic's primary interest was in organizing recruitment and compiling rules for pledging and initiation, as well as organizing new chapters. Eventually, the need for intersorority spirit spurred the National Panhellenic Conference to become a forum for discussing questions of mutual interest and concern.
Southeast's Panhellenic Association is the local organization composed of students who are interested in furthering the growth of sorority members, chapters and the entire Greek system. |
